Thanksgiving Grilled Cheese

Since this weekend was Thanksgiving here in Canada we decided that we needed to make a Thanksgiving grilled cheese. It had turkey (white meat), cranberry sauce, and Camembert cheese on fresh homemade bread. The dip of choice was ranch, since we didn't have any gravy (which would have been perfect). I also used some bbq sauce for dip, which was a nice change-up for some of the bites.

Tomato and Sausage Grilled Cheese

I picked up some roma tomatoes at the grocery store, split them down the middle, and roasted them in the oven with fresh garlic, sage, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. After they cooled i removed the skins. I also boiled some mild Italian sausages (just to get them cooked through), then sliced them lengthwise and fried them on the griddle a little bit to add some crispiness and colour. Added the both of them, as well as some 3-cheese blend (mozzarella, provolone and parmesan) to a few slices of multigrain bread and we had some very tasty sandwiches.

Four-Cheese Grilled Cheese

This week's grilled cheese was a four-cheese Italian blend (pre-shredded in a bag from the grocery store) on some sourdough (i think) bread. It was accompanied by some cream of tomato soup. It was very melty and dipping into the soup made both better.

Ham and Cheddar on a Croissant Gilled Cheese

This week Allison and I were on vacation at a cottage we rented in Katrine Ontario, up in the Muskoka's. We had picked up some croissants for breakfast and decided that they needed to be turned into grilled cheese for lunch (instead of dinner, for once).

The sandwiches themselves were old cheddar cheese and thinly sliced honey ham on a sliced croissant, with lots of butter on the outside, cooked in a frying pan on the stove top. With all the butter both in, and on, the sandwiches they ended up getting a little dark, but they were still very tasty.

Jalapeno Poppers Grilled Cheese

This sandwich was mighty tasty. I thought it might be a little too much with enough jalapeno to cover the entire sandwich (and in hindsight, i was right) so i used bbq roasted jalapenos in a strip down the middle, and roasted red peppers on either side. The jalapeno's came straight out of my garden too, the absolute freshest possible. The red peppers didn't, they came from the store...

Grilled Vegetable and Roasted Chicken Grilled Cheese

This week's sandwich was a pretty fancy one. We put grilled red peppers (skin removed), grilled zucchini, oven roasted chicken breast, pesto, and goat cheese on this sandwich. The outside was coated in a mix of butter and olive oil (instead of just plain butter). It was quite the large one, right up until the sandwich griddle flatted it out. With some ranch dressing on the side to dip in, it was mighty tasty.

Bacon Mushroom Melt Grilled Cheese

This week's sandwich was ever so melty and gooey and delicsious. It had sauteed mushrooms, bacon (allison's did not), herb-and-garlic cream cheese, and a good quality mozzarella cheese. It was flowing all over the plate, it was pretty great.

Peperoni Pizza Grilled Cheese

This grilled cheese was pretty simple, pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce. Super Melty.

Prosciutto Mozzarella and Fig Jam Grilled Cheese

Today's grilled cheese contained prosciutto, mozzarella and fig jam. The flavours in this sandwich were very delicate and light. I had some ketchup with mine and every time i had some it drowned out the fig flavour completely. We used good mozzarella too and it was very melty. All in all, a pretty good sandwich.

Barbeqcued Philly Cheesesteak Grilled Cheese

Today was the first time i've had other people around for grilled cheese day. My parents came over and i made Philly Cheesesteak (or some form of approximation) grilled cheese. Click through for more details.
